Who says we aren’t nice?

Now, I know I am biased in my thinking because I grew up in New Jersey, but I think that the NJ/NYC area gets a bad rap that the people who live here are not nice. (My home state is also the butt of pretty much every joke ever and I feel like that is never going to change unfortunately.) However, since moving back into the area, after living in D.C. for the past 8 years, I can tell you that the people of NJ/NYC are some of the nicest around.  Let me give you a few examples…

I’ve been running throughout my very hilly neighborhood and every single time I pass someone, they give a nod, wave or even say “hello,” “good morning,” or “good evening.” One man even gave me a thumbs up and said, “Keep it up!”

I spilled coffee on my white dress while on the ferry and three people offered me napkins/tissues from their bags.

On my walk home from the train one night is was POURING rain and just as I had reached my Mom’s house, a car pulled up asking me if I needed a ride somewhere.

Every single person I’ve met at my new job has bent over backwards to make me feel welcome to the organization.

And if those “nice” examples weren’t enough to make you love NJ, take a minute to see some of the most beautiful places ever right here. (Thanks, BuzzFeed!)

Can’t wait to head back to the beach this weekend for more of that stunning shoreline…
