Le Diplomate

Wednesday night we tried out the newest hot spot in D.C. – Le Diplomate! It definitely lived up to the hype. Not only is it a great location (right in Stephanie’s ‘hood) but it’s also a really pretty new spot with plenty of space. We read all of the reviews and checked out the menu ahead of time and were ready for a delicious dinner.

We started off with some cocktails and devoured the bread basket (no pictures of either, whoops!). Right when you walk into the (super noisy) restaurants there is a table piled high with bread and a server slicing it up for baskets. The butter that was served with the bread was so delicious as well – those French folks know their butter!

Addy started with the beet salad –

And Stephanie started with the French onion soup –

They were both delicious and the soup was so decadent, almost a meal unto itself!

We debated trying some cheese and the rest of the appetizers sounded amazing but held off this go around. Until next time cheese board!

Addy had the Steak Frites which did not disappoint. Hello, garlic butter, will you move in with us?

Stephanie had the Beef Bourguignon and may have made a few Julia Child references 🙂

And even though we were totally stuffed we had to try some dessert. When we were seated the table next to us had just gotten their desserts and there was a huge Creme Brulee that had to be ours! It was so good and such a great choice.

Is there anything better than cracking the shell of a Creme Brulee?

The meal was absolutely delicious and while it was very noisy when we walked in, we were able to have a great conversation and enjoy our meal. The service was also top notch, which is always appreciative in a new restaurant. We would both definitely go back and might be eying the brunch menu next…
