There is no question that the half marathon for me has become a fun distance to focus on and train for, I thought for a hot second I’d like to do a marathon, but I’m not 100% on board yet.  I am currently reading Dean Karnazes Ultramarathon Man. I am only in the middle of the book right now, but so far the story has been most interesting for me to read because of the level of detail of his first Western States race.  I’m not jumping from the half marathon to a 100 mile race, but I can fully appreciate the challenge.

So, this brings me to tonight when Justin and I got take out thai from the place across the street and there is a little postcard for EX2 Adventures at the hostess stand. I grabbed it and saw both 10k and half marathon trail races in the D.C. area.  I put it in my bag and made a note to look it up as soon as I got home.  It didn’t take much convincing for Justin – I found a race in June, checked our calendar and signed us both up for the Fountainhead Off Road Half Marathon.  I was originally going to do the 10k, but decided to take on the even bigger challenge…eek!

Next up, some trail training.
