The sore leg
This weekend has been all about getting back on track. I went to Safeway and Whole Foods today to buy groceries. I found two Whole Foods gift cards in my desk drawer that I had forgotten about which made grocery shopping so much nicer today. Score! I went to Safeway to buy the only yogurt I like (Oikos Fat Free Greek Yogurt Black Cherry) and some Fiber One 90 calorie bars (good for easy afternoon snacking at work). At Whole Foods I picked up grocery items to make the dishes from this BuzzFeed post.
I’ll probably end up modifying a lot of them but I thought they were an easy base for the week. I chickened out (ha!) and didn’t buy a full chicken. I bought a bunch of chicken tenders instead and am about to season them and throw them in the oven so I can use them all week. I’m also going to caramelize the onions and cook the bacon. The more prep tonight, the easier these meals will be the rest of the week. Even though it’s only week two at my new job, I’m ready to start bringing in some food so I can have a healthy lunch and some healthy snacks.
Since late last week I’ve been feeling like I’m coming down with a little cold so I’ve been chugging water. Even though I’m feeling crappy, the weather was so beautiful today that I decided to go for a short run. Well, it went really poorly. I started up and had to stop almost immediately because my entire right leg – from the arch of my foot to the top of my hip – is sore. Every muscle feels super tight and tender and I have no idea why. Like I said yesterday, I haven’t been working out so I know the soreness isn’t from that. I had a similar tender, soreness after I drove home to NJ without stopping and it went away after a few days. I’m hoping that will happen again, otherwise I’m going to have to go have this checked out.
I’m hoping to ward off this pending sickness with some good workouts this week. I’m going to sweat out whatever is brewing. Here’s what I’m thinking for my SIDI:
Monday – Step or ZumbaTuesday – Free Community Class at ScultpDC
Wednesday – Run with a friend (and maybe yoga in the morning – hello fitness goal)
Thursday – BodyPump
Friday – Spin
Saturday – Out of town
Sunday – Out of town
We’ll see how it goes!
Hope everyone has a great week .
P.S. Bummer about the Redskins.
